Will it bleach or discolor my carpet?
It isn't a bleach, but every carpet dye is different. Test a small out-of-sight area first — a closet floor or under a couch — wait for it to dry, and check for color change before you work on the visible stain.
Is it safe around pets and kids?

Will it work on a stain that's been there for years?
